DIRECT's Peer Counseling Program focuses on adjustment to disability and relationship issues. It consists of an evaluation, social history, and goal setting. Individuals will have up to six (6) counseling sessions to work on the goals that they have set. Clients can participate in group and/or individual counseling sessions. Individual sessions can be scheduled by contacting DIRECT at 624-6452. Groups are designed to address issues related to special topics, including, but not limited to, self-esteem, relationship building, living with traumatic brain injury, and anger management. A domestic violence support group is available by calling 327-2665 or TTY at 623-9577.
Don King, DIRECT's Peer Counselor, is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Certified Professional Counselor. He holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Arizona and has over 20 years of professional counseling experience.
